         This is summer learning journey! One of the tasks was a colouring book. I picked this one to do!

Let’s imagine that we tested the air in your classroom and found 7 different kinds of mould. Eek! The cleaner says that it takes 5 days for each mould to be eradicated (removed). If the school had to remove each mould one at a time, how long would it take to remove all the mould from the classroom?

Answer - 

7x5 = 35 Days!

This is the maths I solved, you just grab the seven and five and times it. The answer Is thirty five!

The Air Up There

• The word ‘bumblebee’ is a compound word (bumble + bee). The word ‘bumble’ means to move or act in an awkward or confused manner. 

• Bumblebees can fly very quickly. They can reach ground speeds of 1-1.5 kilometres per hour (km/h).

• Bumblebees are very strong! They carry up to 60 to 80 percent of their body weight in food with them to avoid starvation.

• Bumblebees can do more work and carry more pollen than other bees, including honeybees. In fact, they can do up to 50 times as much work as a normal honeybee.

The number of bumblebees is declining in New Zealand due to a number of factors, including The removal of wildflowers and flowering plants and trees, habitat losses, and extensive use of pesticides.

This is bee facts, and this is also about bees. The ones in orange means, I answered the blank spaces (This is what a blank space looks like! - ______ )

My Special Sink!

   My Special Sink! 

I would put tomatoes, Lemons, Seafood, fizzy drinks, fried carrots, onions, onion chips, weet-bix, and beans in My Special Sink! YUCK! 

This is My own Special Sink. It's about the foods I don't like. If I had My own Special Sink, I would put these in!

Geometric Bird

This is a bird that I made, in google drawings, on my chrome book. I made this with shapes and some with poly line because their wasn't a shape for it. So how I did it was... I got a bird picture, then, put shapes on it and when your finished, take the REAL picture of the bird off the one you put shapes on, then you got your own geometric bird  🐦

In our class, we do 'The Black Hat' as our activity and we do things based off 'The Black Hat', the geometric bird was one of them.   

Maths

At school we sometimes do maths. We do mathletics, prototec and basic facts (Beat the clock!).

Maths is fun for me sometimes, I sometimes get stuck on my maths.

I know my 10 times, 5 times, 2 times, 1 times, 11 times and I kinda know my 9 times. 

I feel proud about my maths work when I show my teacher (Whaea Annie or Mrs Spratt.) 

I'm also learning my patterns on my maths like 9 times tables. It goes 9, 18, 27, 36, 45, 54, 63, 72, 81 and 90. I know some of my patterns and it is easier when you learn your patterns!

Music

 Music was fun and a little hard, we did a pizzicato with our violins and other violin stuff. It was hard but it was fantastic to learn stuff about violin! I was gloomy and tired and didn’t do that much but I tried my best.  

At school we did Music. We played the violins and we also did some pizzicato's and other violin stuff.

EL Rancho

 On Wednesday on the 15th of September,the Year 6's went to EL Rancho for camp.

When we first arrived we had a meeting where we found what group we were in, and what activities we were going to. We also learned the rules about camp and which cabin 

we were in. 

Wendy, Carys, Brooke.B and I shared a cabin together and we unpacked. We chose our beds and when we were finished, Brooke took out her lollies and shared them with us before we went to lunch.

After lunch we did free activities but Carys, Wendy, Brooke.B and I just stayed in our cabins until the next activity. 

The next activity we did was Kayaking. At first I didn’t want to do it and when everyone was in the water riding the Kayaks I wanted to try it. So I did.

This is my experience about El Rancho and what the activity my group did such as kayaking.

Lockdown and my creation, Smar

 

In lockdown, on level 4, I did some homework, creating stuff and drawing at home and some drawings I did with my sister. We drew our own characters. Nikita’s drawing was a furry and mine was a character I made. His name is Smar. His species is a clown because he looks like one but with antennas, marks and a bunny tail. He has a dark blue t-shirt, dark blue pants, the same colour of his t-shirt, yellow marks but the patterns are swirls that can change colour showing his emotion and what he is feeling, yellow nose, yellow eyes, dark pink, dark blue and light blue hair, at the start of his antennas is yellow and when it comes up with dark blue to light blue, VERY sharp claws and his also an natural animal. My sister doesn’t say he's that cute but he is to me! One day I decided to make him in a block. I got paper, scissors, cellotape, colour pencils, and a pencil and a rubber. All I had to do was draw him, colour him, cut him out and last but not least is to cellotape him to the block. When I showed Nikita she didn’t really care about it but mum said it was adorable and she wanted to squeeze it.

The Girl and the Giraffe (Quick write)

Soon I will be free as a bird. I'm scared, excited and heartbroken that I'm leaving her. It felt like my heart was made of glass and had been dropped on the floor. 

The girl takes me far on a journey to the savanna. The next day we arrived in the savanna. It's as hot as a height of summer. In the distance I see other giraffes staring at me. The girl saw the other giraffes and took my leash off and said her last goodbye to me. I saw a river of tears in her eyes when I ran to the other giraffes. The girl waved at me and walked sadly into the distance. I was happy to be back with the other giraffes but I missed the girl more. I felt lost without her like cereal without milk.

                                                      today we had to use similes in our writing.

My Holiday (part 1)

 I was SO excited! It was finally the first day of the school holidays! I was going to Fun Zone with my sister, Nikita. When we first got there we didn’t know anyone so we sat down and introduced our names to the staff and did some funny or normal drawings. My sister, Nikita, drew Among Us characters. I drew nature stuff such as wolves, foxes, birds and plants. After that, it was time to go on the bus and go to 

Te Papa and McDonald's. As I was hopping on the bus I saw a lady with a bulldog with light brown fur and on It’s chest was white like clouds.

‘’IT’S SO CUTE!’’ everyone screamed with joy, but me and my sister just didn’t pay attention and chose a seat in the bus. The bus was like a herd of horses over filling the bus. I sat by the window with my sister, She was looking at her watch looking at the time as the bus drove off suddenly. When we were driving everyone started singing a song that I didn’t know. It was every, EVERY LOUD, it was loud as a dragon!

Figures of Speech Drawing

 

The class has been doing the Te Araroa Trail. We had to read 'The Longest Walk' and find some figures of speech. We had to make our own google drawings and draw one of the figures of speech. I liked, 'The water looks like air with a colour'!       

Bookmarks - Cybersmart Challenge 4

 

This is Cybersmart Challenge 4. This is about bookmarks and what I know about bookmarks, there is even things how to do a bookmark by pushing the star by the search bar! 

All About Me

My name is Tiarna, I am a Year 6 this year. My teacher is Mrs Spratt but we call her Whaea Annie. I sit next to Carys and Misteri. My friends are Brooke R, Misteri, Carys and Wendy. My favourite subjects are art and writing. At home, in my own time, I draw but sometimes I make novels and books. I listen to the radio to make me calm while I am drawing or while I'm drawing and writing in my novel or book.  I have a sister called Nikita, we don't really play a lot anymore. Nikita mostly spends her time on the Xbox or iPad. I sometimes play outside with my dog Kya, but sometimes my cat Nala comes to me outside and wants me to pat her. In the holidays we normally stay at home or go to a holiday programme. At home we go for a little walk to get some fresh air so we don't stay inside for the rest of the holidays.
